If you're late to the game on planning summer vacation, you can still book those flights. That's according to Clint Henderson, The Points Guy Managing Editor. Henderson joined Yahoo Finance's Rachelle Akuffo with advice for travelers hoping to score a deal on summer plans. It's starting to get late for those looking to travel internationally, and "if you have somewhere like Paris in mind, you should be booking that now." But Henderson says folks hoping to travel within the United States still have a "couple of weeks" to firm up plans.
His advice is to set a flight alert on Google (GOOGL) Flights - he calls it the "best tool out there for savvy travelers." You simply pick your origin, destination, and desired dates, and set the alert. Google will ping you when the prices changes, and even let you know you've found a good deal. They're also rolling a new feature on some flights: a price guarantee. So if prices go up substantially, "they'll give you a little cash bonus." Henderson also advises travelers sign up for sites like The Points Guy, which offers a daily newsletter highlighting deal alerts. And when you've found a deal you want, "jump on it." He says "everyone is looking for deals right now, and they go fast."
