The Jeep (STLA) Wrangler 4xe (pronounced “4 by e”), a hybrid-electric version of the popular Jeep Wrangler SUV, was on display at the 2023 New York International Auto Show.
Yahoo Finance’s Dave Briggs took a closer look at the car, bringing up the issue of high-demand and premium pricing for the lineup.
The starting manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) for the Jeep Wrangler 4xe varies depending on specific model, with a price range between $49,000 and $55,000.
To Briggs’ point, the Jeep Wrangler is a vehicle that satisfies the desire for adventure and exploration, so “it’s no surprise that people are willing to pay a premium for it,” he stated.
Jeep revealed at the show that it will add a cheaper 2024 Jeep Wrangler Sport S 4xe to its lineup, an entry-level plug-in hybrid that could help maintain its top PHEV sales spot.

DAVID BRIGGS: I am in a Jeep Wrangler. It's the 4xe. And I love this car. The problem is, you can't get your hand on one. Everyone's paying a premium for Jeep Wranglers. I think it's part of two themes happening in our economy. One, of course, is the electrification of our cars. And that's what 4xe satisfies. But the other one is our desire to get out there and live and get dirty and travel, let the wind blow through our hair.
And so what you're seeing is people are paying 24% over manufactured suggested retail price for the Jeep Wrangler and 22% for the Wrangler Unlimited. That's two of the top five cars in the country that people are paying a premium for. Dealers tell me you can't keep them on the lot. It's that desire that all of us have to get out there and experience life coming out of COVID. It's a beautiful car. Big fan of it.
