(Bloomberg) -- European benchmark gas futures surged by more than 15%, as discussions continue in Australia over labor strikes that could disrupt global supplies if they go ahead.
Talks were scheduled to take place between union officials and Woodside Energy Group Ltd., one of the two companies operating the affected liquefied natural gas facilities.
Potential walkouts could put as much as 10% of global LNG exports at risk of interruption. While Europe rarely buys Australian gas, it would need to compete with other countries in Asia for replacement cargoes.
