How one utility company is prepping for extreme weather

In the wake of Hurricane Idalia, Duke Energy (DUK) is busy restoring power to thousands of customers. As the weather becomes more extreme, so does the toll it takes on the electrical grid. It's something the industry has been tackling and preparing for for years, says Duke Energy State President Melissa Seixas. "This industry is one that plans ahead. We have been thinking about things like electrification of fleets...additional solar, renewables investments," Seixas says, adding that they have been working on these things for years.
