Sept 19 (Reuters) - Redwood Materials is planning to invest a three-digit million sum in Germany in the near future, its founder Jeffrey Brian Straubel told the German daily Handelsblatt in an interview published on Tuesday.
Redwood Materials earlier said it had acquired lithium-ion battery recycler Redux Recycling in Germany for an undisclosed amount to increase battery-recycling capacity and strengthen its footing in Europe's electric-vehicle battery market.
Straubel, a former Tesla executive, said the company planned to expand the site in the coming years.
“Over a period of time in the near future we want to invest a three-digit million sum in Germany,” Handelsblatt quoted Straubel as saying. “I’m looking forward to us finally getting started.” (Writing by Matthias Williams, Editing by Friederike Heine)
